3 truths vs 1 sneaky lie

We’ve all been there, those moments when negative thoughts sneak in like uninvited guests, whispering, “You’re not good enough.” “You’ve messed up too badly this time.” “God could never use someone like you.” Last night, during women's group, one of my friends shared a simple yet powerful strategy she uses to shut down those lies, and it’s brilliant. She calls it her “3 Truths, One Lie” strategy.

It works like this: every time the enemy throws a lie her way, she responds with three biblical truths to replace it. It’s like playing spiritual whack-a-mole; the lie pops up, and bam! she knocks it down with God’s Word.

For example:

Lie: “You’re not loved.”

Truths:

God’s love never fails. (Psalm 136:26)

Nothing can separate me from His love. (Romans 8:38-39)

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)

Lie: “You’ll never get through this.”

Truths:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

He works all things together for my good. (Romans 8:28)

It’s simple, yet effective. Instead of letting a lie ruin her day and drain her mental strength, she floods her mind with the truth. By the time she’s spoken three truths, the lie doesn’t stand a chance. I love this because it’s not just positive thinking, it’s powerful thinking. It’s taking God’s Word seriously and using it as the weapon it was meant to be (Ephesians 6:17).

So, next time the devil tries to mess with your thoughts, don’t panic; play his game and win. Fire back with three truths and watch how quickly his lies lose their power.
