A Mind Shift
Before I dive in, I owe my faithful readers a sincere apology. This is my first blog post of 2026. Life came at me fast. Very fast. 😅
This season has been full of changes, unexpected ones, and honestly, I had to pause. Not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. I had to step back, refocus, and ask God to help me find a new rhythm. Perfect timing, right?
My pastor is preaching a powerful, much-needed series this month called “Mind Change.” If you’ve been reading for a while, you already know why this topic hits home for me. I’ve always believed the mind is powerful, and that most battles are won or lost there.
Growing up, I struggled deeply with mental strongholds: limited beliefs, negative thought patterns, and a defeated mindset. Those battles were real. And I learned the hard way that freedom didn’t come by accident; it came by intentionally rewiring my mind with God’s Word.
Last Sunday, Pastor Isaac titled his sermon “A Prescription for Peace.” And something clicked.
If you remember when I first started blogging, I used to post four times a month and close each series with what I called “Prescription Scriptures,” a curated list of Bible verses tied to that month’s topic. It was my way of offering something practical, something you could actually apply.
Here’s the beautiful part: science is finally catching up to what the Bible has been teaching for over 2,000 years. Neuroscience now calls it neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to form new pathways and patterns. Scripture calls it the renewal of the mind. Different language. Same truth.
Your brain can change. And God’s Word remains the most powerful tool to make that change last.
When you speak truth, your brain begins to rewire around it, and suddenly, you start seeing yourself the way God sees you. So let’s consider this a reset. For some, maybe even a retraining.
Neuroscience tells us it takes about 21 days to break an old neural pattern and introduce a new one. But here’s the beautiful part: the Bible already showed us this principle long before science gave it a name. Daniel prayed persistently for 21 days, and persistence was the key.
So for the next 21 days, let’s try this together:
Choose one verse. ex: “ God is for me, who can be against me: Romans 8:31
Meditate on it. Speak it out loud. Repeat it daily.
That’s it, simple, but powerful.
As you stay consistent, you’ll begin to notice the shift. Your emotions will change. Your reactions will soften. Even the way you speak to yourself and to others will sound different. Peace and faith will start to feel familiar… like your new normal.
And before you realize it, you won’t just be practicing something new, you’ll be becoming someone new. 💛
