Consider It All Joy
With God on our side, initial setbacks or a less-than-ideal beginning should not discourage us from continuing our efforts to achieve a positive outcome. He promises in His Word that His help is always present in times of need. We can rest in the knowledge that it is not in God’s character to lie. Ultimately, we can consider it all joy when we face different trials and tribulations, knowing that when our faith is tested, it produces endurance, leading to spiritual growth and maturity.
By enduring difficulties, trusting in God, and allowing perseverance to have its full effect, we become mature and complete, lacking in nothing.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:3-4
God’s plans for us are good; he does not enjoy seeing us suffer through trials and tribulations. He promises to always be present in times of need, but trials and tribulations are part of the Christian journey, serving as opportunities for spiritual growth and maturity.
Trials can teach us valuable lessons about God and ourselves that we may not have learned otherwise. These lessons shape our understanding of God, develop our character, and teach us to overcome adversity, develop resilience, and cultivate virtues like love, compassion, and patience. They help us become more like Christ, serving as a powerful testimony of God’s power and faithfulness and encouraging others to glorify God.
Not all trials are tests of faith or growth; some stem from sin or unwise choices. Yet, even in these cases, God can bring good from suffering and offer comfort and strength.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
