Debt Free
We all know what it feels like to owe something we can’t pay back — a debt too big, a mistake too deep, a weight too heavy. But there’s a deeper debt that every one of us carries: the debt of sin.
The Bible tells us that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). In other words, our rebellion against God earns us separation from Him. No amount of good works, effort, or self-improvement can bridge the gap. It’s a price we could never afford.
But Jesus could, and Jesus did. That’s why the cross stands at the center of our Christian faith. Jesus, fully God and fully human, lived a perfect life and willingly gave Himself as the sacrifice for our sins. On the cross, He took our deserved punishment, bearing the full weight of our guilt and shame.
He paid it all. The beauty of the gospel is that Jesus freely gave what we could never earn. His final words on the cross were, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The debt was paid in full. And through His resurrection, He offers us forgiveness, freedom, and new life.
We don’t have to carry the weight anymore. We don’t have to strive or prove ourselves. We only have to receive what Jesus has already done.
Grace is a gift. And because of Jesus, we can live debt-free, FOREVER.
