Mind Battles
Last month, I had the opportunity to attend a Joyce Meyer conference titled "Battlefield of the Mind."
As someone who was sexually, mentally, emotionally, and verbally abused by her father from a very young age until she left home at 18, she has overcome these challenges. She shares her testimony worldwide to encourage those who have experienced hurt and trauma in their lives to heal and recover completely if they give their lives to Jesus and allow Him to transform them by the renewal of their mind.
The enemy engages in actions intended to harm us, keep us in bondage, and steal our true identity, causing us to believe the lies he has spoken over us and to walk in a false identity according to those lies rather than in who we truly are and were created to be. But God is a redeeming God; He offers hope and redemption through His word, by taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ, and by the daily renewal of our mind, standing firm on truth, speaking truth out loud, and rejecting the lies of the enemy. The enemy is relentless; scriptures say he’s like a roaring lion seeking to devour souls, but as long as we continue to follow God’s word, we will find perfect rest.
That’s why we need to stop from time to time and reflect on what we think about; the battlefield is in our minds. Once Christ has revealed our true identity, we must consciously walk in this new identity. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come. The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17. We need to build our mental strength through daily scripture reading and its application to our day-to-day life for proper growth in the mental realm.
