Words of life
Ephesians 4:29 reminds us not to let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29 NIV
Our words are powerful. Scripture reminds us just how difficult the tongue can be to tame. With the same mouth, we can encourage and bring healing, or we can hurt, discourage, and tear others down.
Being able to speak is truly a gift from God. Working in the medical field, I’ve seen how difficult it can be for nonverbal individuals who can't easily express their needs, thoughts, or feelings. It has made me appreciate the gift of having a voice even more.
God gave us our voices for a purpose. May we use them to glorify Him and to uplift, encourage, and speak life into the people and situations around us.
Let’s become intentional about speaking the right words at the right time. When we speak, may our words be good, helpful, and encouraging to those who hear us—not the other way around.
Speak life. Build others up. Let your words reflect God.
